L’imprévu Saxophone Quartet - Perform Classical Compositions
The 12 most famous tunes in classical music compositions of Händel, Mendelssohn, J.S. Bach, Scarlatti, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Rossini.
Almost 150 years after the invention of the saxophone by Adolphe Sax four students of the Conservatory of Utrecht and Hilversum started a saxophone quartet called L’imprévu.
The name L’imprévu comes from a composition by the French Composer Pierre-Max Dubois and stands for unpredictable. From the beginning in June 1993, L’imprévu has built up a repertoire of very diverse styles. It ranges from the classical saxophone repertoire with composers like River, Desendos, and Absil and arrangements of pieces by Händel, Mendelsohn, Scarlatti and Piazzolla to the avant-grade work of today. L’imprévu consists of a soprano, alto, tenor and baritone sax. The quartet tries to create a full-bodied massive sound in which every instrument is equal. Atmosphere, tension and spontaneity are the key elements the four used to attract the attention of the audience.
L’imprévu Saxophone Quartet – Karlijn Scheepers – Soprano Saxophone, Jantienke Gelderman – Alt Saxophone, Hans Kuijt – Bariton Saxophone And Casper Dik – Tenor Saxophone.
